Assessing to synergy between governmental non-govermental, and international efforts to combat gender- based violence in Kosovo

The Government of Kosovo recognized domestic violence as one of the most serious problems facing Kosovan society. Addressing domestic violence and violence against women was prioritized in the government’s four-year plan, leading to the adoption of a National Strategy for Protection against Domestic Violence and Violence against Women (2022-2026).
Although this strategy and the Law on Prevention and Protection from Domestic Violence, Violence Against Women and Gender-based Violence (2023) are considered comprehensive, their implementation has been challenging. Addressing gender-based violence in Kosovo requires more than just legal reforms.
